A Dialogue between Air and Water
This recording invites you on a musical journey through two themes held dear by Claude Debussy: air and water. Although they are dissimilar, when they come into contact with one another they become mutually enriched with incomparable strength, like a real couple!
Dive into the heart of impressionism with this musical dialogue, where each element is embodied by a pianist: Véra Tsybakov represents “Water”; Romain Hervé is “Air”.
In the pursuit of sensations, feelings, colours, reflections, and poetry, Claude Debussy created his own harmonic language, lending him total formal freedom: “I am more and more convinced that music, by its very nature, is something that cannot be poured into a static, traditional mould. It is made of colours and rhymes”, he said. The works on this album attest to this.
