For their new album, A BANDA wanted to showcase their original compositions. They also included a cover of the famous “Construçao” by Chico Buarque and paid homage to Mozart, enriching this unique repertoire. The quintet also aimed to celebrate the art of collaboration and opened the studio doors to numerous guests from the jazz, classical, and MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) worlds. The resulting album is both personal and respectful of tradition, at times intimate and often festive. A BANDA de novo also bears witness to the long-standing musical partnership that, since Marcel Camus’ “Orfeu Negro” and Vinicius de Moraes, has connected France and Brazil.
