Sébastien Llinares performs the works of Henri Sauguet and Pierre Wissmer, where the heart seems to beat beneath fingers conquered by this music, “there”: a black and white photograph of France’s harmonic terroirs – danced steps from the musical heritage of the provinces that shaped us – elegantly draped in melismatic creases by Chanel, signed Dior, Lanvin or Jean Patou…

Here the eye listens to a 21st century French music-painting, a natural balance between Henri Sauguet’s melodic harmonies and the discontinuous continuity of Pierre Wissmer’s rhythmic counterpoint.

At his guitar, Sébastien Llinares caresses more than he separates, because he works enveloped in the expressive senses of each composer he adopts, making their music his own.  He sews up, binds, unbinds, rebinds, throwing himself into the vibrant intentions of the strings designated by the two creators, and thereby appropriating – what symphonic breadth that only the guitar can deploy!  Opening our senses to the interpreter’s art which returns timbre to its matter, the heart of which we love to take within ourselves as our interior expression of choice, the one the music lover anticipates, and feels…
